Jakob Kudsk Steensen

Jakob Kudsk Steensen explores ecological and psy­cho­log­i­cal themes. With a history of exper­i­ment­ing with technology (game engines, generative systems and pho­togram­me­try etc.). Steensen challenges per­spec­tives on technology, nature, and human interaction, in turn shaping discourse on con­tem­po­rary art, performance and gaming. This practice is considered world­build­ing, and each time a new world is evoked for audiences and col­lab­o­ra­tors to inhabit.

His latest 2025 commissions included The Song Trapper at Fondation Louis Vuitton, Boreal Dreams at Fon­da­tion­Beyel­er, and Psy­chos­phere at Cisternerne. Prior to this Steensen recently exhibited The Ephemeral Lake at Tokyo’s Mori Museum in February 2025, that followed its premiere at Hamburg’s Hamburger Kunsthalle in April 2024, as well as par­tic­i­pat­ing in Korea’s 2024 Gwangju Biennale featuring Berl-Berl. Other notable solo exhibitions include Berl-Berl com­mis­sioned by LAS for Halle am Berghain in Berlin 2021, and Catharsis at London’s Serpentine Galleries in 2020.
